Data Sources
Families deserve transparent, trustworthy information about their school options. So we share the data sources and definitions behind all the data you see in RYSE.
RYSE data comes directly from official public sources, including the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and Mecklenburg County GIS. See additional details below.
Academic growth data, including the growth status and growth index for the overall, reading, math, and student group data points, comes from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), specifically its Education Value-Added Assessment System (EVAAS) growth data.

Information such as each school's name, address, phone number, website, grade levels, calendar, schedule, and virtual status comes directly from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Educational Directory and Demographical Information Exchange (EDDIE) system.

Demographic data, including racial and ethnic makeup and total enrollment, comes from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Educational Directory and Demographical Information Exchange (EDDIE) portal for the 2023-2024 school year. This information is currently available in RYSE only for charter schools, Mecklenburg County, and surrounding counties.

Magnet program themes, transportation zones, and transportation notes are compiled from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools "Themes and Schools" webpage and the Mecklenburg County GIS GeoPortal.
